Well, I got my blood work results from my last week's doctor's visit. My cholesterol numbers were a little better - 216. I can't remember what it was 4 months ago. But it's still over the ideal 200. So I do need to work on it (my words, not the doctor's).
But the big news is...my thyroid is "whacked out" according to the nurse. A normal thyroid range is something like .5 - 5.5. Mine is 11.4!!! And thyroid numbers are wierd - if the numbers are high, that means your thyroid is low, and vice versa. So I have started taking Synthroid. Hopefully, in a couple of weeks, I should start feeling better. More energy (I am so lethargic now!), lose weight (I had gained a lot of weight!), not so cold-natured, and hopefully my hair will stop turning gray!! My doctor says this is not a symptom, but my hair has suddenly started rapidly turning gray!! And thyroid problems affects your hair as in your hair can fall out and become brittle and dry. Why not go gray? I have heard that is a symptom all of my life!
So now I can add low thyroid to my long list of ailments....Ahhhhh, the joys of turning 30! When I turned 30 two years ago, my body went to pot.
